The private sector in Oceania has significant potential to elevate its presence in the sustainability arena. Oceania is currently the smallest region within the Global Compact in terms of the number of participants and Local Networks.

As the first and only current Local Network in the region, Global Compact Network Australia has been active in convening learning events across the Ten Principles. Given the multicultural context of the country, human rights is one of the network’s priority areas and it has also launched a working group on business engagement with indigenous peoples.
