    Organized by the United Nations Global Compact and Global Compact Network Georgia, Making Global Goals Local Business – Georgia is a UN Global Compact flagship event taking place on 25-26 March 2021. With its regional focus, Making Global Goals Local Business – Georgia will bring together High-level executives from Government, local and global leaders from business, civil society, International Organizations and Global Compact Networks Georgia, Ukraine, Poland, Turkey and Belarus.

    Making Global Goals Local Business – Georgia is a platform for business leaders and Governments of the participating countries to foster multi-stakeholder dialogues, yield new partnerships and explore innovative solutions to advance policies that fast track zero-carbon economic growth and accelerate progress towards the objectives of the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals. It is set within the context of finding local and regional solutions and partnerships to achieve Agenda 2030 in the region.

    The attempts of the participating countries to promote green ecnomy and achieve iclusive ecnomic growth will be discussed. Issues related to partnership possibilites around the SDGs in the region as well as the impact of COVID-19 on achievement of the SDGs will also be examined.

    The panel discussion will focus on the concept of green economy as a driver of economic growth, job creation and eradicating poverty; reducing skills shortages for green jobs; promoting green and decent work and inclusive economic growth; gender implications of green economy; making ecologically sustainable economic choices; and promoting low-carbon, resource-efficient and socially-inclusive development;

    Panel Discussion: Sustainable Finance - the new frontiers of the EU Regulatory Framework

    The panel discussion will focus on what is Sustainable Finance and why it is important to take appropriate account of environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations when making investment decisions in the financial sector. EU efforts to integrate sustainability considerations into its financial policy framework will also be examined. The panel will further focus on the role of Sustainable Finance in delivering the European Green Deal, as well as, for meeting EU’s international commitments on climate and sustainability.
