The Role of the Business Sector in Sustainable Production and Consumption Patterns

Overview

The Role of the Business Sector in Generating Sustainable Production and Consumption Patterns in Latin America and the Caribbean

In the framework of the first Forum of the Countries of Latin American and Caribbean on Sustainable Development in 2017, the UN Economic Commission for America and the Caribbean and the UN Global Compact organized a side event to address the contribution of the private sector to the implementation of the Agenda 2030. The idea was to identify the relevance of a business sector committed to human rights and UN Global Compact Ten Principles in policy dialogues, action through alliances and mobilization of resources. The parallel event of the second Sustainable Development Forum proposes to deepen this discussion and analyze concrete sustainable business practices in the region and how to support multi-stakeholder alliances to strengthen their positive impact. Likewise, the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs can serve as a reference for the articulation of sustainable business models and as indicators of the achievements of these business practices. Business leaders, Governments, civil society organization and the UN representatives are welcome to attend.
