Overview
Just, peaceful and inclusive societies provide a firm foundation for business to thrive. Businesses play a key role in creating these societies by investing in and contributing to sustainable development, particularly in high-risk, conflict-affected and post-conflict scenarios.
The 2017 Business for Peace Annual event is the key convening for business representatives seeking to engage in peace and humanitarian action. Co-organized by the Global Compact Network Colombia, the UN Peacebuilding Support Office and hosted by the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, the event brings together over 200 leaders from business, investment, civil society, governments, the UN and Global Compact Local Networks. The focus of this year’s gathering is to explore innovative approaches to, and opportunities for collaboration, in sustaining peace.
Objectives:
- Explore private sector contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals - particularly SDG 16 - in high-risk, conflict-affected and post-conflict scenarios;
- Delve into innovative financial solutions that enable sustainable peace; and
- Inspire and expand the Business for Peace community, by showcasing experiences and lessons learned from Colombia and the world.
