As the Chairman and CEO of Ayala Corporation, one of the largest conglomerates in the Philippines (with interests in real estate, banking, telecommunications, water, industrial technologies, power, infrastructure, healthcare and education), he has worked to create Ayala strategies and business models that address many of his country’s social and economic challenges. With this vision in mind, Jaime has anchored Ayala’s sustainability goals around all 17 Global Goals.

Ayala Corporation — a founding member of Global Compact Network Philippines — is innovating and diversifying to reach a wider segment of the market with businesses that meet the Philippines’ needs, contribute to development, and balance quality and affordability. Ayala’s real estate group has expanded its efforts to provide affordable housing, offering homes with prices as low as USD 10,000. The company’s water business prioritized low-income communities, continuing to offer access to clean water – for as low as USD 1.60 per month.

Beyond this, Ayala Corporation has entered sectors critical to economic progress. For example, their power business supplies over 1000MW to the grid. They ensure access to affordable medicine through their network of stores and affordable primary healthcare through six clinics. They also deliver affordable, quality education that will enhance the employability of 18,000 students.

Looking to the future, Jaime also pushed for the inclusion of long-term sustainability targets in Ayala businesses’ plans, which are now key result areas for the company and management, including his. As part of this effort, Jaime drove the company’s integration of financial and sustainability reporting. Their first integrated report published 2017 includes information on Ayala’s positive impact on society through their contribution to the Global Goals. Their 2015 and 2016 Sustainability Summits featured discussions on the Global Goals.

Jaime has received multiple recognitions for his public service and support of economic development in the Philippines, including the Presidential Medal of Merit, the Philippine Legion of Honor and the Order of Mabini.
