Located on the 6th floor of the Marriott Marquis hotel, the Innovation Circle is one part of the Leaders Summit that you won't want to miss. United Nations Partners and Leaders Summit sponsors set up booths and expo-style displays to showcase their cutting-edge innovation work and highlight how the UN is partnering with the private sector to advance leading technologies to address global challenges.

The UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) has been extensively involving in Virtual Reality (VR) productions, from artistic and technological inputs to measuring its effectiveness as a fundraising tool. UNICEF has developed a VR series that promotes awareness, understanding, and empathy by allowing you to step into the daily reality of others. It amplifies the voices of the most vulnerable in danger of being left behind, allowing them to narrate their own perspective, in their own words.

The UN Development Programme (UNDP) showcased innovations that help it and partners to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. UNDP will share a portfolio of innovations from across the globe addressing poverty, gender inequality, energy and governance. From Government Labs to design the next generation of public services to behavioral insights to test smarter policies; from leveraging new data sources to improve decision-making to scaling solutions with the private sector.


The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) showcased some of its innovative solutions to the challenges faced by forcibly displaced people worldwide. UNHCR has taken significant steps to formally incorporate innovation as a core part of its response strategy. As the Agency faces growing humanitarian needs, innovation has become a crucial tool in order to do more with less.

The UN Population Fund (UNFPA) showcased its new virtual reality film “Born Into Exile”, shot in the Zaatari Refugee Camp. UNFPA will also feature demos of cutting-edge technology to improve access to sexual and reproductive health services in humanitarian and development contexts; mobile health applications to link young people to health systems; and projects empowering young people as entrepreneurs and innovators.

The Global Goals World Cup is a amateur soccer league leveraging the power of sport to engage and excite. It unites multiple stakeholders to raise awareness of the UN Global Goals. The tournament will be launched by UNDP and partners in September during the General Assembly, over the coming years regional tournaments will be held all over the world.
