The SDGs as a Catalyst for Responsible Business, Growth and Innovation

From 20-23 January, world leaders are convening in the mountain town of Davos for the World Economic Forum. At the meeting important questions will be debated, including how to kick-start efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), how to spur action from the ground up, and the how to achieve more impact through public-private partnerships.

In Davos, we will gather CEOs, Governments, and senior UN officials to discuss how to scale-up partnerships that address our world’s most difficult problems. Building on work undertaken by Global Compact LEAD in recent years, this session will focus on innovative public-private partnerships and explore opportunities for the United Nations to play a greater role.

It is an important moment to step up the debate, as the newly adopted SDGs and the Paris Climate Agreement have shaped a new era for business. The UN Global Compact is taking the lead on turning these political agreements into drivers for more responsible and sustainable business.

The mission is to translate the SDGs into new business models, products and services that will help to meet the vision of these new global goals: a fairer, greener and more prosperous world. By mobilizing our 13,000+ participants and 85 local networks on the ground, in 2016 we will activate our global movement to take local action.
