This paper articulates the need to allow companies to contribute to water management efforts, to assist them instead of excluding them, and to insist that they operate in a manner that justifies their presence and is welcomed by local stakeholders.
Ensuring the safety and health of workers throughout the supply chain can be a challenge, especially when suppliers operate in countries with inadequate safety protection. This document calls on business to invest in positive OSH measures to improve long term value and provides guidance for companies and their suppliers on improving safety and health in the workplace. It describes how promoting better occupational safety and health systems protects the well-being of workers, while reducing operational risks for both suppliers and buyers. Also included are practical examples from individual companies and descriptions of partnerships, initiatives and resources to assist companies in improving occupational health and safety.

Held in New York on 19-20 September 2013, the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit 2013: Architects of a Better World brought together 1,200 chief executives with leaders from civil society, Government and the United Nations to unveil the Business Engagement Architecture to align and scale up business action in support of sustainable development priorities. The Summary Report provides an overview of the Leaders Summit's high-level corporate sustainability strategy discussions and the strategic recommendations and action imperatives for the future of the initiative produced at the Leaders Summit.
It contains business perspectives and recommendations in three areas: determining the core of a post-2015 agenda, including suggested sustainable development goals and targets; how to engage business and investors towards sustainable development goals; and recommending ways that Governments can advance inclusive and sustainable markets. It is the culmination of UN Global Compact consultations and surveys with thousands of businesses in all major regions.
Organized by the Global Compact Network China, the China Summit on Caring for Climate aimed to raise awareness of climate change, disseminate best practices, and enable businesses from China and abroad to tackle the issue together through innovation and cooperation. The Summit, with support from the Chinese government, introduced national policies and regulations related to climate change. The outcomes of the meeting will be submitted to relevant Chinese authorities as well as the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit and Caring for Climate Business Forum.
