About This Episode

Building water resilience in your organization can improve business performance and accelerate growth. When many people have access to clean water, this creates an optimal situation for businesses and society.

The quest for sustainable water solutions must be a global priority. The podcast's latest episode, ' Moving Business Forward Faster,' shows how businesses and organizations can drive change and contribute to a more sustainable future.

To help us with this topic, we have invited Gary White from Water.org and Water Equity and Janet Ranganathan from the World Resources Institute (WRI), who share their perspectives on how organizations can play a crucial role in building water resilience.

White shares insights about their unique approach to the water crisis in developing countries. By focusing on promoting access to water and sanitation services, White and his team have created a model that supports local people in choosing suitable solutions through the availability of affordable financing options. This concept, known as 'water credit,' has had a significant positive impact on the lives of millions.

What we focus on at Water.org and Water Equity is helping people in low-income and middle-income countries access the water and sanitation services they need. We primarily do that by assisting them in accessing affordable finance so that they can choose the best solutions for them. With that approach, we feel like we can use philanthropic capital and multiply it 17X in terms of generating more capital from the capital markets, White says.

Ranganathan shares a global perspective and emphasizes how WRI's work mirrors the organization's ambitions and resonates with the universal pursuit of sustainability. By promoting an integrated approach that links sustainable development goals, nature's well-being, and climate actions, she paints a picture of a shared vision for our planet.

She adds, “We see these goals as interconnected. So, they are our joined-up North Star; they're not WRI's but the world's goals. And, of course, water cuts across all three of those.”

Meanwhile, Rangerathan shares insights from WRI's work to build a more integrated and results-driven approach. He addresses how local and global initiatives can collaborate to achieve measurable changes. Building water resilience in your organization can improve business performance and accelerate growth.
