MAJD ALYEMEN Co. employees have the responsibility to be well-informed regarding potentially hazardous materials, equipment, and activities associated with their employment.

    Health, Safety and Environment Policy
    At MAJD ALYEMEN Co. we recognize the importance of protecting the health and safety of our employees, clients, visitors and contractors while caring for the environment at every location and project we undertake.

    Our Goals

    Commitment
    • The implementation of this policy is the responsibility of the General Manager and senior leaders of MAJD ALYEMEN Co.

  • Safety Responsibilities
    Everyone working at MAJD ALYEMEN Co. has the right to expect safe working conditions and is responsible to help ensure safety for themselves and others. Everyone has an important role in safety. The following specifies areas of responsibilities for safety at the company:
    MAJD ALYEMEN Co. Company General Management

    The duties of the General Management of MAJD ALYEMEN Co. is to oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive and practical occupational health and safety programs, and to maintain an environment that is conducive to the safety, health, and well-being of the company community.
    Additional, specific responsibilities include:

    • Attend the regularly scheduled management review meetings and special meetings of the company HSE department.
    • Establish and maintain, as chairperson, a Safety Committee within the member's area of responsibility. The size and structure of this Committee shall be dictated by the types of activities, the potential hazards inherent in those activities, and the number of persons who may be exposed to these hazards.
    • Assist in the investigation of all serious accidents, and all other accidents when requested by the supervisor.
    • Initiate proper follow-up measures and ensure corrective actions are implemented when unsafe conditions, practices, or equipment are reported or observed.
    • Communicate to all employees, and workers that health and safety of persons in the workplace and environment are of the highest priority at MAJD ALYEMEN Co.
    • Ensure that health and safety duties are carried out in the company departments or administrative units for which they are responsible.

  • Supervisors
    All supervisors have specific responsibilities to provide for the health and safety of those supervised. They are in a key position in the organizational structure to carry out the department's safety policies and to prevent injuries to their employees.

    Specific responsibilities include:
    • Be thoroughly informed of appropriate company safety policies, rules, and procedures and how they specifically apply to their responsibilities and authority.
    • Inform all new and current employees and workers that safety and health, and concern for the environment, are priorities at MAJD ALYEMEN Co. and inform them about safety and health policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, as well as their specific responsibilities.
    • Ensure that required safety equipment, devices, and personal protective equipment and apparel are provided and maintained, and are properly used by individuals working in their operations.
    • Provide employees and workers with instruction and assistance in the proper operation of equipment, materials, and personal protective equipment involved in any operation, which may be potentially hazardous.
    • Take prompt corrective action when unsafe conditions, practices, or equipment are reported or observed.
    • Encourage prompt reporting of health and safety concerns.
    • Conduct a prompt and thorough investigation of all work-related injuries, illnesses, and accidents. Submit appropriate recommendations on all accident reports, including the “Incident Report”, as appropriate, and follow through to ensure corrective measures have been implemented.
    • Coordinate or conduct inspections to maintain safe and healthful conditions, and address any deficiencies that are identified.
    • Provide for health and safety training.
    • Provide financial support for health and safety improvements, or request assistance from the next higher level of supervision regarding these requests.

Labour
  • Assessment, policy and goals

  • Employees and drivers
    All MAJD ALYEMEN Co. employees and drivers have specific responsibilities to comply with established health and safety policies, standards, rules, procedures, and regulations. Compliance with these is essential to creating and maintaining a healthy and safe environment at all company operations and locations.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions taken by the company to implement labour policies, address labour risks and respond to labour violations.

  • • Comply with applicable environmental health and safety policies, standards, rules, regulations, and procedures. These include safety-related signs, posters, warnings, and written/oral directions when performing tasks.
    • Refrain from performing any function or operation, which is considered hazardous or is known to be hazardous, without proper instruction and authorization.
    • Use only equipment and materials approved or provided by the supervisor or instructor and for which instruction has been provided by this or other experience.
    • Become thoroughly knowledgeable about potential hazards associated with the work area; know where information on these hazards is maintained and how to use this information when needed.
    • Wear or use prescribed protective equipment

  • • Report all unsafe conditions, practices, or equipment to the supervisor, or Safety Officer whenever deficiencies are observed.
    • Inform the supervisor immediately of all work-related injuries or accidents and obtain prompt medical attention when necessary.

Environment

  • Health, Safety and Environment Objectives
    MAJD ALYEMEN Co., through commitment to the HSE Policy and the objectives outlined below, ensures that the company has in place effective, practical and achievable means to provide for the health, safety, protection and welfare of employees, contractors, clients and the environment.

    MAJD ALYEMEN Co. shall:

    • Comply with all applicable legislation, codes of practice and industry standards
    • Establish procedures and implement work instructions sufficient to avoid injury to employees and others who may be affected by company operations.
    • Establish standards and procedures to minimize harm to employees and others through occupational health hazards and substance abuse.
    • Have in place controls to minimize the impact of the company’s activities on the environment.
    • Provide facilities, plant, and equipment and maintain them in safe condition.
    • Employ at all levels, a competent and trained workforce through appropriate recruitment, selection, training and when necessary, retraining.
    • Provide an effective system of communication throughout the company and with clients to ensure active participation in all aspect of safety management.
    • Develop and maintain effective contingency plans adequate to meet all identified scenarios.
    • Through investigation, follow up, and analysis of incident reports, strive to eliminate accidents and incidents within the company operations.
    • Have in place monitoring and review systems to measure the success of the Safety Management Systems and provide for ongoing improvement.
    • Conduct HSE audits and risk assessments to achieve the objectives set above.

  • Implementation

    • Ensure that obligations established by the company HSE Policy are carried out. This includes assuring compliance with applicable government and client safety rules, regulations, standards, and procedures. Included, for example, are regulations and guidelines set by the Yemeni PEPA (Petroleum Exploration and Production Authority) and the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency).
    • Monitor implementation of programs designed to protect the health and safety of employees, staff, workers, and visitors.
    • Support measures such as training, use of protective devices, and resources to control and prevent hazards.
    Respond to Emergencies
    Everyone must be prepared to respond quickly and effectively in an emergency. Become familiar with the work area, available exits, and associated safety equipment such as eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, sinks, and spill kits. Just a few moments spent in training and learning the locations and use of these pieces of equipment prior to an emergency could save a life.

  • Prevent Accidents
    Prevention is the key to safety. Prior to beginning any project, using any piece of equipment, or handling materials, it is essential that the potential hazards and safety precautions necessary to perform the work be considered. Hazards may include exposure to toxic substances, hazards on the road, electrical circuits, mechanical equipment, or waste chemicals.
    Safety precautions should include correct materials acquisition and storage, proper ventilation, and proper grounding of equipment. Equipment should be in good working order. This may include ensuring that periodic maintenance is performed. The work area should be kept neat and clean.
    Information and training on hazards should be presented in a manner readily understood by employees and drivers. Whenever possible, information about the unique hazards and precautions necessary for any type of work should be prepared and made readily available.

Anti-Corruption
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of anti-corruption for the company (i.e. anti-corruption risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on anti-corruption.

  • Organizations with impact on customer contractual or regulatory commitments are
    responsible for establishing procedures that comply with the requirements of the QMS.
    They are responsible for ensuring that lower-tier procedures are established as necessary
    to implement applicable requirements.
    These procedures address regulatory requirements and QMS policies, as applicable.
    These procedures are reviewed and approved by Executive Management, or designee,
    of each branch or organization of MAJD ALYEMEN Co. Adoption of these policies and
    procedures by other organizations for implementation will be subjected to review
    by those organizations.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement anti-corruption policies, address anti-corruption risks and respond to incidents.

  • The quality requirements contained in the QMS may not address all quality system
    requirements invoked by client contracts, or required by a governing regulatory agency,
    for each MAJD ALYEMEN Co. project. To define and implement an alternate quality system
    for specific projects, it may be necessary to create a Project Quality Plan (PQP) to specify
    supplemental quality requirements, identify supplemental/revised procedures,
    or provide recognition and compliance with alternative quality standards.
    When a PQP is necessary to address these needs, or to provide more detailed information
    required for specific customer or market acceptance, the PQP may take the form of
    a complete quality assurance program manual based on the commitments of this document.
    For the project to which it is applicable, a PQP, in the language it is written, is the definitive
    quality system description and applies to activities that affect the quality of items and services
    supplied by MAJD ALYEMEN Co.
    A PQP is developed, issued, revised and controlled in accordance with established
    procedures; it is reviewed and approved by the responsible functional organization
    or project management with Quality concurrence.

  • Work Instructions
    Work instructions provide detailed steps to conduct specific work activities.
    Work instructions are prepared as needed to supplement procedure requirements
    and to ensure that critical work scopes are carried out in a consistent manner.
    Managers are responsible for determining where work instructions are required
    in their areas of responsibility and for establishing systems for the generation, review,
    distribution, revision, and control of work instructions.
    Document and Data Control
    Managers are responsible for ensuring that all activities affecting the quality of items and
    services are accomplished in accordance with controlled documents such as quality system
    manuals, procedures, work instructions, and controlled data such as customer order requirements
    These documents contain appropriate criteria for determining whether prescribed activities
    have been completed satisfactorily. Procedures in MAJD ALYEMEN Co. are established which
    provide for document review, approval, issue, and changes to ensure inclusion of customer
    technical and quality requirements prior to implementation.
    All personnel are responsible for ensuring that the correct revisions of applicable
    industry codes and standards are used, in accordance with customer requirements.
