  • Volga-Dnepr is also an instrument of human rights and freedoms protection in the wide sense. It operates flights within the peacemaking mission of the UN and other international and non-governmental organizations and governments worldwide.

    Since 1992 when the UN started taking an active part in settlement of world conflicts, Volga-Dnepr participated in all the important peacemaking actions headed by the United Nations: Cameroon, Somali, former Yugoslavia, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, East Timor, Zaire, Afghanistan, Cambodia, CAR, Congo. The success of these actions was very much dependent on Volga-Dnepr participation in peacemaking action support. The overall number of Volga-Dnepr flights operated within the UN peacemaking mission comes up to 300 which comprises over 23 thousands tons of cargo.

    Volga-Dnepr was the first civil airline to implement a flight to Kabul Airport after the beginning of anti-terrorist operation in Afghanistan in 2002 which was conducted according to the Resolution No 1267 by the UN Security Council. More than 420 flights have been operated in the country for the last two years.

    Volga-Dnepr takes an active part in social activities rendering financial support to social and educating entities and sponsoring cultural and sporting events. Company activity in this direction contributes to the reduction of social tension and to the enhancement of living standards of the population.

    Volga-Dnepr participates in enhancement of environmental characteristics of the aircraft that it operates, giving priority to the environmental safety over its commercial profit. During the introduction of aviation noise requirements in the countries of North America and European Union Volga-Dnepr supported rational and consequently inevitable decision of the international community targeted for protection of environment and national health.

    Volga-Dnepr initiated the programme on AN-124-100 modernization, which it currently implements in collaboration with designer-partners. The completed work resulted in the fact that all the AN-124-100 aircrafts meet the ICAO Chapter III requirements of aviation noise.

    Currently the forth stage of AN-124-100 modernization is in the process of preparation which is to result in the complete compliance of the aircrafts with the environmental requirements regulated in ICAO Chapter IV. This step will contribute to the further reduction of the aircrafts operation negative impact on the environment and the occurrence of environmental problems in the contiguous airport areas.

    Participation in Global Compact allows Volga-Dnepr to use the market in full with regards for social factors whilst solving the problems of the Company strategic development, introducing responsible management and business methods to the society - reduction of social tension in the regions of Volga-Dnepr activity.
