  • Nissan Motor Co. Ltd reported its progress on environmental management and performance in line with the principles of the Global Compact in its “Environmental and Social Report, Year Ended March 31, 2003.”

    Under the environmental management section, the report introduces Nissan’s Green Program. “In specific terms, this program ensures that environmental action plans are formulated, that targets and aims relating to business activities and associated indirectly with the environment are set for mid-term, long-term, and yearly periods, and that every possible effort is made to achieve sustainable improvement.” (page 11) This process shows the commitment to the Global Compact principles on Environment.

    The report also describes the company’s social performance, including enduring work safety and maintaining employees’ health (pages 49 and 50). Additional information is available on the company’s website (see URL link above for more details).

    Nissan Motor Co. Ltd has continuously invested its effort into environmental and social issues. Result of environmental and social questionnaire for year ended march 2002, which is commented by 87 readers of last year’s report, shows that 49% answered Nissan’s environmental protection activities is excellent and 44% answered better than average.
