Description
  • Nogatec International undertook the following actions to address GC issue(s)

As a strategic project planning and development company, our goal is to support the GC principles not only by undertaking and/or promoting specific actions that help advance individual principles but also, more generally, by inciting all of the companies with whom we work (clients, partners, suppliers) to become members and/or to actively support the type of social responsibility represented by Global Compact.

Our company is currently working on the development of a program to promote the prevention of potentially lethal infection by accidental hypodermic "needlesticks" of healthcare workers in developing nations. Along with one of our clients, EPP, a Monaco-based medical technology development company, we hope to create a federation of companies who are interested in promoting their medical and healthcare products in a manner that provides valuable education and important general information related to the spread of AIDS in the healthcare workplace (e.g. the organization of traveling seminars, classes and demonstrations of complementary technologies and products that can help prevent the spread of AIDS in targeted developing nations).

We are also currently working on a project with the French audio-visual production company Xlargo to develop a television and print advertising concept that would permit national and multi-national companies to sponsor powerful generic ads promoting environmental protection, higher labor standards and human rights protection in target markets worldwide.

    The outcome of the Actions

From our actions, we have managed to generate a considerable amount of interest in the principles promoted by Global Compact particularly among small businesses (from investment and financial services companies and audio-visual production companies to hospitals and healthcare / medical technology companies).

As a consulting and project management company, we have been able help our clients and partners to discover the social context in which their products are situated. This has allowed them to analyze more accurately the broader impact their products can achieve in specific markets.

For example, as a result of our work with EPP, they have decided to study the development of a less expensive version of their hypodermic needle destruction technology, thereby making this technology more accessible to workers in developing nations where the healthcare risk is the most critical. This newer version is seen not only as a means of opening up new markets but also as a means of building bridges to other related and complementary technologies and companies operating in the same markets and sharing common social and economic concerns.
