Amerada Hess communicates with stakeholders on social responsibility and implementation of the Global Compact?s principles through its Annual Report on Environment, Health, Safety and Social Responsibility (http://www.hess.com/downloads/reports/ehs/us/2002/home.html) and its Environment, Health, Safety and Social Responsibility website (http://www.hess.com/ehs/env_health_safety.htm). The report addresses issues relevant to the implementation of the Global Compact principles such as management of environment, health and safety, social responsibility, environment, health and safety performance and stewardship. The format of the report follows the framework of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
The website provides indicators for the company?s health and safety, environmental and social performance (www.hess.com/ehs/performance.htm). Also available on the website are the company?s policy statements on Corporate Social Responsibility (http://www.hess.com/downloads/documents/pdf/csrpolicy.pdf and Environment, Health and Safety (http://www.hess.com/downloads/documents/pdf/ehspolicy.pdf).

Amerada Hess? Business Units have incorporated Environmental Management Systems (EMS) based on the ISO-14000 series of international standards. Presently nearly a quarter of total oil production and throughput is under ISO 14000 certification.
