    I am pleased to confirm that Industrias Metalicas IMETAL SA (IMETAL) reaffirms its support of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption.

    In this first annual Communication on Progress, we seek to describe the actions taken to improve the integration of the Global Compact and its principles into our business strategy, culture and daily operations.

    For the next years, IMETAL will do its best to carry out its commitments with the UN Global Compact Initiative with the necessary dedication and responsibility.

    We also commit to share this information using our primary channels of communication.

Human Rights
  • Assessment, policy and goals

  • Human Rights Protection continues to be a key point for the company,

    Industrias Metálicas IMETAL SA commitment is the support and respect for the protection of human rights in all its aspects.

    This commitment is reflected in all our projects and written policies, disseminated both to customers and suppliers.

  • Implementation

  • Industrias Metalicas IMETAL SA complies with the International Human Rights Legislation making sure all contracts and projects signed in the company meet its standards.

    The company has not had to deal with any Human Rights violations.

  • IMETAL assesses performance in this area on the basis of internal reports, which show no breach of human rights in this last period.

    No Human Rights violations have occurred within the company and no human rights risks have been detected in the past. In addition, no Human Rights violations have been detected in projects related to the company’s professional activity.

Labour

  • Labour rights are of high relevance for Industrias Metalicas IMETAL SA, a company which understands the importance of a sustainable working environment.

    IMETAL continues to fully endorse the four principles of the United Global Compact regarding labour rights. IMETAL’s social policy reflects this by offering training opportunities to its staff at all levels to develop and grow within the company.

  • Industrias Metalicas IMETAL SA continue to offer a employee development programme, by which employees can continue its training through a set of training courses in different areas of expertise.

    Through a period of consultation undertaken in past years, the company has been able to decide on a set of courses and measures from which employees can benefit.

  • There have been no reports of failures in this area in the past.

Environment

  • IMETAL continues to improve its environmental management scheme.

    This compromise is shown with the adoption of an environmental policy in agreement to the respect of the environment which takes to implantation of acting guidelines in accordance with the requirements of the Management Community System and Environmental Audits (EMAS).

  • In relation to environmental issues, IMETAL is committed to the following:
    - Diffusion and application of IMETAL environmental policy
    - Training and sensitisation of employees and subcontracts in our environmental policy

    - Application of Available Technical Improvements to our process lines
    - Attention to external interested parties

  • The company evaluates its performance in relation to the goals the company has set in terms of environmental operation:
    - Minimisation in resources consumption through the improvement of production efficiency
    - Minimisation in waste production, discharge and emissions control
    - Optimisation of management of produced waste

    The last goal of our environmental behaviour is the continuous improvement to get a minimum interaction between our activity and the environment. We are aware of the one-to-one relationship between environmental quality and quality of life and we have therefore acquired this determined compromise to respect the environment.

Anti-Corruption
