    I am pleased to confirm that Technetix reaffirms its support of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption.

    In this annual Communication on Progress, we describe our actions to continually improve the integration of the Global Compact and its principles into our business strategy, culture and daily operations. We also commit to share this information with our stakeholders using our primary channels of communication.

Human Rights
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of human rights for the company (i.e. human rights risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on Human Rights.

  • • Technetix does not tolerate slavery, human trafficking or any other violation of human rights in any part of its business or its supply chain. Our Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement requires all employees and supply partners to act ethically and comply with global principles on human rights including conflict minerals regulations.
    • We commit to driving adherence to environmental and human rights standards throughout our supply chain.
    • Technetix offices around the world play an active role in their communities by supporting local charities. In addition to fundraising, all employees can take paid time off to support these charities.
    • Our products and product designs must comply with legal and regulatory requirement that protect human health, including EU RoHS, WEEE, REACH and packaging regulations.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement Human Rights policies, address Human Rights risks and respond to Human Rights violations.

  • • Implemented a supplier code of conduct which requires all supply partners to uphold human rights and ensure the health and safety of its workforce is a priority in every part of its business. Supply partners must immediately notify Technetix of any suspected or actual breaches of applicable laws, regulations or the Technetix Supplier Code of Conduct.
    • New Technetix product vendors are assessed before approval including factory visits where appropriate to identify any human rights as well as quality and environmental risks.
    • All employees requested to complete training on Modern Slavery and how to identify and prevent exploitation in the supply chain.
    • Our whistle-blowing procedure enables all internal and external employees to raise genuine concerns about malpractices / illegalities including human rights issues in good faith at an early stage and in the right way without fear of reprisals.
    • Technetix continues to support Chestnut tree house, a charity which provides care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and in 2021 also contributed to several charities supporting Ukraine.
    • Our Quality teams verify product compliance to all legal and regulatory requirements that protect human health and rights via rigorous testing and review.
    • We request suppliers to provide evidence of conflict minerals due diligence using the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) templates

  • Measurement of outcomes

  • We monitor the following:
    • Reported breaches of the supplier code of conduct.
    • Vendor assessments and approvals
    • % of employee trained in Modern Slavery. In 2021 this was 70% (improved from 565 in 2020)
    Results are monitored via scorecards and periodically reviewed by management.

    Should a vendor be found to not meet Technetix’ requirements, depending on the severity of the failures, Technetix will either, at its discretion, refuse to enter into a business relationship or will work with that supply partner to establish compliance. Any breach of the Code of Conduct will entitle Technetix to terminate its agreement with that supply partner, including any open orders. Should a supplier be identified as using a non-conformant smelter or refiner we will engage with the supplier to ensure that they take actions to move to a conformant source of 3TG, Cobalt or Mica.

    EcoVadis assessment - In 2021 we were awarded a Silver award for sustainability performance by EcoVadis, the universal provider of business sustainability ratings. This was an improvement on our Bronze award received in 2020. This includes assessment of labour and human rights performance.

Labour
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of labour rights for the company (i.e. labour rights-related risks and opportunities). Description of written policies, public commitments and company goals on labour rights.

  • • We ensure that our organization and supply chain does not participate in any form of forced or bonded labour as documented in our Slavery and Human trafficking Policy.
    • All employees have access to the company policies, procedures and handbooks where appropriate. Details of National Agreements are also available to participating employees.
    • We aim to ensure equal opportunities in employment and avoid unlawful discrimination as documented in our Equality and Diversity Policy.
    • All supply partners must adhere to our supplier code of conduct, which includes requirements to meet ILO international labour standards, and to also ensure that they are cascaded down their own supply chains.
    • Staff development is supported by an annual Personal Development Conversation (PDC) process, focusing on behaviours and skills development needs.
    • Technetix aims for zero harm to employees and encourages all colleagues to report incidents.
    • All employees must comply with our code of conduct.

  • Implementation

  • • We provide a number of platforms for social engagement including works councils and townhall meetings and conduct an employee satisfaction survey.
    • All employees receive training on workplace health and safety, including mental health, and we provide access to private health care and flu vaccinations.
    • We require all employees to complete training on Diversity and Inclusion.
    • Procedures for grievance reporting, Anti-bullying and Harassment in the Workplace, and Whistleblowing to ensure that any labour rights concerns are identified and dealt with whilst protecting those reporting them.
    • We have introduced a new incident and near miss reporting process across the organization to ensure that all incidents and risks are investigated, and corrective actions identified.

  • Measurement of outcomes

  • We monitor the following:
    • Gender breakdown by employee group. The percentage of women in management reflects the overall percentage in the organization. In 2021 the percentage of female employees increased to 33% (from 31% in 2021) and the % of women in management positions increased to 35% (from 32% in 2020)
    • Employees by age group and average age. The average age in 2021 was 45 (verses 51 in 2020).
    • Employee (voluntary) turnover. In 2021 this was 7.5% (verses 9.7% in 2020)
    • Grievance raised and reported breaches of Code of Conduct. There were none in 2020.
    • % employees training in workplace Health & safety. 2021 = 84%.
    • % employees trained in Mental Health. 2021 = 81%
    • % mental health first aiders. 2021 = 11%
    • Lost time injury frequency rate 2021 = 0
    • Near miss rate in 2021 = 1.46. We encourage the reporting of Near Misses to prevent incidents.
    • % of employees receiving performance reviews. In 2021 this was 97% (verses 91% in 2020)
    Results are monitored via scorecards and reviewed periodically by senior management.

    Our employee satisfaction survey is conducted every 2-3 years and used to gauge employees' views and identify areas for improving communication and social dialogue.

Environment
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of environmental protection for the company (i.e. environmental risks and opportunities). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on environmental protection.

  • We are committed to minimising our impact on the environment and our management system is certified to ISO 14001:2015. We have identified our most material/significant environmental aspects or risks to be:
    1. Emissions - from Technetix operations and entire product lifecycle including raw materials, manufacturing, shipping, customer usage, and disposal. Emissions are linked to climate change, extreme weather, rising sea levels, and declining biodiversity.
    2. Waste - Selection of materials in Technetix products and packaging. Design of products considering longevity, repair, and recycling. This links to depletion of natural resources, pollution of land and seas, and exposure of workers to toxic chemicals.
    3. Supply Chains - Technetix product supply chain management and due diligence. Electronic value chains can be associated with human rights abuses and conflict, and impact ecosystems and communities.

    Our environmental policy documents the following principles and objectives:
    • Ensuring we minimize as far as possible any single use plastic associated with our products
    • Driving adherence to environmental and human rights standards throughout our supply chain
    • Monitoring and reducing the emissions associated with our operations
    • Creating products with energy efficiency and lifecycle impacts in mind

    The Technetix Supplier Code of Conduct also sets out the minimum environmental standards we expect our suppliers to meet.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement environmental policies, address environmental risks and respond to environmental incidents.

  • • Driving a project in collaboration with key customers to remove single use plastics wherever possible from our packaging.
    • New supply partners are assessed before approval, and compliance monitored. All supply partners are required to have an Environmental management system that adheres to the principles of ISO 14001:2015.
    • All employees are provided training on environmental awareness and human rights issues.
    • As well as energy efficiency in use, we aim to reduce product environmental impacts through longevity, repair, upgrade, and by ensuring future bandwidth growth from existing infrastructure. We also consider end of life and ensure all products meet regulatory requirements and can be disposed of safely. This has been built into our product specifications.
    • We monitor our scope 1 and 2 emissions and are working to set targets to reduce them.
    • We have moved our Head Office to 100% renewable energy supply, are phasing out company vehicles, and encouraging virtual meetings to reduce business travel.
    • Management of hazards, risks and opportunities. We have continuously improved site management and emergency response procedures to reduce or prevent environmental impacts.

  • In 2021 we achieved the following:
    • Eliminated 7.4 tons of single use plastics from our products. This is in addition to the 4.1 tons removed in 2020.
    • 71% of supply base (by spend) was ISO 14001 certified.
    • 80% of employees completed environmental awareness training.
    • Scope 1 and 2 market-based emissions reduced by 14% vs 2020.

    Internal and external ISO 14001 audits reviews performance of the environmental management system and drive continuous improvement.

    Performance is reviewed quarterly with key customers and at least annually by senior management.

    EcoVadis assessment - In 2021 we were awarded a Silver award for sustainability performance by EcoVadis, the universal provider of business sustainability ratings. This was an improvement on our Bronze award received in 2020. This includes assessment of environmental performance

Anti-Corruption
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of anti-corruption for the company (i.e. anti-corruption risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on anti-corruption.

  • • Technetix has an extensive Anti-Bribery Policy. This policy applies to all employees of all Technetix group companies, as well as agency workers, consultants, contractors and suppliers worldwide.
    • Our business risk assessement process includes evaluation of corruption and bribery risk and controls.
    • Supplier and Employee codes of conduct require all to adhere to ethical standards and anti-corruption principles.
    • It is the responsibility of the board of directors and senior management to ensure that the company acts ethically.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement anti-corruption policies, address anti-corruption risks and respond to incidents.

  • • All employees are assigned training in Anti-Bribery, Whistleblowing, Cyber Security and Data Protection.
    • Risks of corruption are monitored and assessed and included in our business risk register.
    • Our supplier code of conduct and vendor approval process requires supply partners to comply with the principles set out in the Technetix Anti-Bribery Policy, to implement policies which are substantially similar, and to ensure that these policies are enforced.
    • Our whistleblowing procedure enables all employees, external consultants and contractors to raise ethical or legal concerns without fear of reprisals.

  • Measurement of outcomes

  • • In 2021, 70% of employees had completed training on Anti-bribery, and 82% in whistleblowing.
    • Business risk register is reviewed at least twice annually by senior management
    • Rigorous annual finance audits check for financial compliance and ensure there are no risks of corruption or fraud.
    • EcoVadis assessment - In 2021 we were awarded a Silver award for sustainability performance by EcoVadis, the universal provider of business sustainability ratings. This was an improvement on our Bronze award received in 2020. This includes assessment of ethics performance.
