Human Rights
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of human rights for the company (i.e. human rights risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on Human Rights.

  • In the Code of Conduct, the Board of Sedana Medical has set out the principles of business ethics that all employees, consultants and any temporary staff must abide by. Our company values, Explore, Trust, and Collaborate, help shape our culture and guide us in our daily work.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement Human Rights policies, address Human Rights risks and respond to Human Rights violations.

  • All employees of Sedana Medical are encouraged to report suspected irregularities, improper behaviour, or violations of the company’s Code of Conduct. A whistle-blower system, provided by an independent external third party, has been implemented and is an important tool in drawing attention at an early stage and counteracting behaviour that is not compatible with Sedan Medical’s values.

No forms of reprisal against anyone expressing concern or opinions, reporting irregularities in good faith, or taking part in an investigation of a case are tolerated.

New employees are introduced to our company values, Code of Conduct, and whistle-blower system during their onboarding. All employees are annually reminded about the system.

  • Measurement of outcomes
  • Description of how the company monitors and evaluates performance.

  • The management team of Sedana Medical has an ongoing dialogue with the external third party providing the system and regularly reviews any situations that may arise. In 2021 no reports of irregularities were received via the whistle-blower system.

Labour
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of labour rights for the company (i.e. labour rights-related risks and opportunities). Description of written policies, public commitments and company goals on labour rights.

  • At Sedana Medical we believe our diversity is a strength. Our team is made up of 17 nationalities. We are also very proud to have a gender balance of 52:48 in favour of women.

Our ambition is also to have a workplace free from work-related injuries or accidents. A Working environment handbook is available for all employees with mandatory training during onboarding. The handbook contains a gender equality and diversity policy, a policy regarding harassment, discrimination, and discriminatory treatment. The handbook also states that employees shall report any occupational injuries. Any reports on occupational injuries are handled according to regulations and followed up. In addition, all reports are reviewed to gain understanding to avoid future injuries.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions taken by the company to implement labour policies, address labour risks and respond to labour violations.

  • For Sedana Medical, an inclusive culture is characterised by openness, justice, trust, and respect. Initiatives that support diversity and inclusion were prepared during 2021 and will be introduced by the company’s management team in 2022.

We have a clear recruitment process based on competence and experience and are using a structured process with evidence-based question technology, to ensure that we do not discriminate. By 2022, all line managers in our organization will be trained in non-discrimination recruitment.

We offer health insurance to all employees, and for employees in Sweden, we also have a wellness allowance. Our working environment handbook states that “Managers and supervisors must give their active support to health and wellness, work to create a health-promoting way of working in the workplace and encourage employees to participate in various wellness activities. The work should be organized to facilitate the possibility of wellness activities.”

  • Measurement of outcomes
  • Description of how the company monitors and evaluates performance.

  • In 2021, we conducted an employee survey. The outcome of this has been the basis for changes and improvements during the year. In 2022 we will also introduce pulse check surveys. These short engagement surveys will guide us if our efforts to improve engagement are working and enable us to identify emerging problems more quickly. These regular pulse surveys will, in addition to the annual employee survey, remind the workforce that employee opinions matter, and is an ongoing priority in our company.

Environment
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of environmental protection for the company (i.e. environmental risks and opportunities). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on environmental protection.

  • We recognise the importance of understanding how our business influences climate change and we are committed to taking action to reduce our impact wherever practicable. We are actively engaged in identifying and managing our carbon footprint in our supply chain and transportation along with the design and operation of our products.

We will achieve this by applying the principle of ‘avoid, reduce, and replace’.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement environmental policies, address environmental risks and respond to environmental incidents.

  • Our products must be transported and delivered with an awareness of, and concern for, the environment. We, therefore, make active efforts to minimise air freight, and this mode of transport must be used in exceptional cases only. In 2022, at least 90% of our freight volumes will be transported by sea freight.

We are mindful of the selection of materials incorporated into our devices and try to include low environmental impact materials when possible, such as Polypropylene, Polyethylene, Polycarbonate, High-density polyethylene, Stainless steel, and in some instances rubber.

We strive to reduce the amount of plastic in our packaging material, use recycled plastic where possible, and use plastics that can be recycled. A project to improve and optimize the packaging of our main product has been initiated. The aim is to reduce the packaging volume by a third. By this, we will reduce the amount of plastic and enable optimisation of transport packaging.

Part of our work to reduce the business's environmental impact focuses on emissions from transport with our own vehicles. Our policy for company cars stimulates a transition to alternatives with low carbon dioxide emissions, which has begun to make an impression in the form of lower emission volumes.

A significant part of our environmental impact arises in the external operations of contract manufacturers and suppliers in the logistics and distribution of our products. We strive for long-term and responsible relationships with suppliers and distributors and will, through a continuous dialogue with them, work for an increased focus on environmental and sustainability issues.

We will gradually introduce clauses in agreements with our suppliers and manufacturer, where they undertake to uphold the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact, or comparable standards, by complying with applicable laws and regulations.

Anti-Corruption
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of anti-corruption for the company (i.e. anti-corruption risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on anti-corruption.

  • Our values and Code of Conduct promote responsible action. Zero tolerance applies to all forms of direct or indirect inappropriate payments, whether it is a direct bribe or other types of payment, gift, benefit, compensation, or other representation that could constitute an offense or that could affect or appear to affect the judgment.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement anti-corruption policies, address anti-corruption risks and respond to incidents.

  • All employees are encouraged to report suspected irregularities, improper behaviour, or violations of the company’s Code of Conduct. A whistle-blower system has been implemented during 2021, which is provided by an independent external third party. The system makes anonymous dialogue possible and is an important tool in drawing attention at an early stage and counteracting behaviour that is not compatible with Sedan Medical’s values. No forms of reprisal against anyone expressing concern or opinions, reporting irregularities in good faith, or taking part in an investigation of a case are tolerated.

We will gradually introduce clauses in agreements with our suppliers and manufacturer, where they undertake to uphold the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact, or comparable standards, by complying with applicable laws and regulations. This will be a continually ongoing dialogue with our suppliers and reviewed on a regular basis.

  • Measurement of outcomes
  • Description of how the company monitors and evaluates anti-corruption performance.

  • When choosing a supplier and the continuance of the relationship, compliance with the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact, or comparable standards, will play a crucial role for Sedana Medical.

We have an ongoing dialogue and regularly review our suppliers. If any findings and non-conformances are found, we work together with the supplier concerned to correct the non-conformance.
