In March 2020, the Government of Kenya announced the sudden closure of schools to scale up national efforts to fight the spread of COVID-19. The collective education ecosystem was caught by surprise to face the “new” normal.
Every child has a right to education so what happens to millions of children without online options for learning?We decided not to waste a good crisis and drive the Covid-19 conversation to our homes and impact on children’s right to education. We decided to bring together stakeholders; Children, parents, teachers, the government, and all actors. We set up a webinar platform dubbed My Happy Place” we brought together TIFA Research and stakeholders in the education sector; Heads of Private Schools, Kenya Association of International Schools (KAIS), and Kenya Private Schools Association (KPSA) have come together to host a webinar series to focus on the importance of education and inclusivity.
Our conversation topics and output revealed the challenges of carrying every child who has a right to education;
