I am pleased to confirm that Chieftain Fabrics reaffirms its support of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption.
In this annual Communication on Progress, we describe our actions to continually improve the integration of the Global Compact and its principles into our business strategy, culture and daily operations. We also commit to share this information with our stakeholders using our primary channels of communication.

At Chieftain Fabrics we consider our employees to be our greatest asset. We work hard to ensure that the working conditions, including health and safety are at an optimum level.
Our employees are given regular training to ensure that they feel competent in the workplace and are capable of working with any new technology that is introduced.
Our workplace is an equal rights workplace and we subscribe to a non discriminatory ethos.

Employees have participated in training schemes in order to raise their competency.
All employees participate in a yearly profit share scheme which allows them to have ownership of their work and share in the success of the company thanks to that work.
Workers rights are respected in accordance with European Law.
Regular training and education ensures that workers are aware of their rights as well as procedures to be employed should they have grievances.

As our company is small, we rely on periodic reviews by our company directors to ensure that all employees are well trained and competent.

The natural environment is the greatest legacy that we have to leave our children. Thus we are determined to make as little impact on our planet as possible.
We are aware that in the plastics industry in particular, it is essential to recycle and reuse wherever possible whether that be in the product itself or in its packaging and distribution.
Chieftain have recently launched a 60% biodegradable fabric due to its recycled cotton backing cloth.
Chieftain Fabrics are committed to constantly updating and changing manufacturing methods and ingredients to ensure the sustainability of our products.

In 2018, we changed our backing cloth from 100% organic cotton to 100% recycled cotton to reduce environmental impact.
In 2019 we introduced 2 woven fabric collections into our product offering. One of which is 60% biodegradable.
We are still working on replacing solvent based lacquer with water based lacquers. This is proving more difficult then we expected but we have most recently made trial samples for testing. We are hoping this is successful and will be on the market in 2020.
We work exclusively with European suppliers in order to reduce our carbon footprint.

All internal changes to our products are backed up by external testing houses and for each change we make, certification is available.

Our suppliers contribute to the overall quality of our products. Ethical practice among our suppliers contributes to our trust and belief in our overall products.
