    I am pleased to confirm that PIAB reaffirms its support of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption.
    In this annual Communication on Progress, we describe our actions to continually improve the integration of the Global Compact and its principles into our business strategy, culture and daily operations. We also commit to sharing this information with our stakeholders using our primary channels of communication.

Human Rights
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of human rights for the company (i.e. human rights risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on Human Rights.

  • Human rights are an important topic for Piab. The Piab Code of Conduct outlines the main principles of Piab’s corporate responsibility, as well as the personal, ethical and professional principles which all Piab employees should adhere to, and which guide our relations with other employees, customers, suppliers, society and shareholders. Through the Code of Conduct we seek to set a high bar for our human rights commitment.

    Piab also have a Supplier Code of Conduct implemented. Through regular visits to our suppliers, we audit the compliance with this policy.

  • Implementation

  • We improve the lives of people within our industries from three angles:
    1. Our own employees. For our own employees we have a well-developed framework including the Piab Code of Conduct (bi-annually signed and trained on by all employees), global as well as locally adapted policies and procedures for all staff, a Integrity line set up for issues of more severe nature etc.
    2. Our business partners/suppliers. Our Supplier Code of Conduct that all suppliers are obliged to sign, specifically addresses Human Rights.
    3. The employees of our customers. Through our ergonomic handling tools, we improve the everyday lives of our customers' employees, opening up the opportunity for an improved work environment for all and changing the possibilities for disabled people to work in the industry.

    During 2019 there has been no incidents related to Human Rights, no investigations, legal cases, rulings, fines or other events related to the Global Compact principles for Piab or any of its subsidiaries.

Labour
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of labour rights for the company (i.e. labour rights-related risks and opportunities). Description of written policies, public commitments and company goals on labour rights.

  • Given the nature of our business, with no production of our own, child labour and migrant workers is strongly related to the work of our suppliers, who manufactures our products. Through our Supplier Code of Conduct, we seek to set a high standard in terms of and through regular visits to our suppliers, we audit the compliance with this policy.

    We also have Health and Safety policies and procedures implemented across our operations (with local variations)

  • For our suppliers, we audit the compliance through regular visits.
    For our employees, we have during 2019 implemented an extended employee survey to better be able to track any discrepancies to our standards.

  • Through structured audits, we measure the outcomes of our suppliers' performance in the labour area.

    For our own employees, we monitor and track the health and safety according to local legislation. We also have a structured process for following up on our employee survey (which includes both compliance and health/safety questions) to measure the outcome of our actions (on team and/or site level).

    During 2019 there has been has no incidents related to Labour, no investigations, legal cases, rulings, fines or other events related to the Global Compact principles for Piab or any of its subsidiaries.

Environment

  • Description of the relevance of environmental protection for the company (i.e. environmental risks and opportunities). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on environmental protection.

  • Piab has a long and proud history of being ISO 14001 certified and therefor has long experience with working in a structured way with environmental issues.
    We have a regular measuring and tracking of our sustainability performance, and our innovation processes are constantly focused on reducing our environmental footprint.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement environmental policies, address environmental risks and respond to environmental incidents.

  • As part of our ISO certification, one of our focus area is our car fleet and reducing our carbon footprint. With a new global car policy aiming at introducing a wider range of hybrid and electrical cars, this is a first step forward in this complex area for Piab.

  • As part of Investor, we report on environmental performance according to their set standard. During 2019 there has been no incidents related to the environment, no investigations, legal cases, rulings, fines or other events related to the Global Compact principles for Piab or any of its subsidiaries.

Anti-Corruption

  • At Piab, we take full responsibility for our actions. Our values are the cornerstones of our business philosophy. They guide us in how we do our work every day, conducting our business in an honest and ethical manner. We are an organisation fully committed to running our business operation with a strong focus on
    governance, health & safety and the environment. This is our responsibility.

    One of the fundamental principles of Piab and its subsidiaries is to strictly observe all national and international anti-corruption and anti-trust laws and regulations. Compliance with anti-corruption laws is imperative for the reputation of Piab, as a company committed to fair competition. In cases where the relevant anti-corruption and anti-trust laws are stricter than our guidelines, the relevant laws always prevail. Third parties representing Piab must also agree to represent Piab in a manner consistent with our policies and guidelines, as well as all other applicable laws.

  • Anti-Corruption including Anti-Money Laundering principles are a part of our Code of Conduct, and therefor a part of the everyday life of Piab. As part of this we also have an integrity hotline set up to address any upcoming issues (during 2019 we had no incidents reported).

    Enterprise risk management mapping is also conducted on a regular basis (bi-annually)
