    I am pleased to confirm that Industrias Metalicas IMETAL SA (IMETAL), continues to reaffirm its support of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption.

    In this annual Communication on Progress, we describe our actions to continually improve the integration of the Global Compact and its principles into our business strategy, culture and daily operations. We also commit to share this information using our primary channels of communication.

Human Rights
  • Assessment, policy and goals

  • Industrias Metálicas IMETAL SA reinforces its commitment to the support of the protection of internationally recognised Human Rights in its whole sphere of influence.
    IMETAL´s commitment summarises within all IMETAL’s projects and actions, as well as through all our policies, disseminated both to customers and suppliers.

  • All projects and actions undertaken within the company are checked in order to ensure that the company performance is in compliance with national and international Human Rights legislation.

Labour

  • IMETAL continues to operate a complete training and development programme for workers, which ensure that employees benefit from the possibility of enriching their skills with courses and training schemes. A programme conjunctively designed between the management team and the workers themselves.

    Health and safety considerations are key in the company, and continuous checks are undertaken in order to ensure compliance with the international management standards in place in the company (such as ISO 9001)

  • IMETAL management team is open to employees’ suggestions regarding labour policies and a communication channel has been set up to prioritise measures within this field. Agreements with the main labour unions of the metal sector are in place in the company.

  • Periodic reviews carried out by the management team evaluate performance and have not detected any reports of failures in this area within the reported time period.

Environment

  • Environmental protection is regarded as highly relevant in the company and a copy of the written company policy on environmental issues is presented below:
    IMETAL, within their activities of design and construction of steel structures, acquires on its own and environmental conscience the compromise to minimise the interaction of its daily activity with the environment. This compromise is shown with the adoption of an environmental policy in agreement to the respect of the environment which takes to implantation of acting guidelines in accordance with the requirements of the Management Community System and Environmental Audits (EMAS).

  • IMETAL has continued, within the reported period, to be committed to the following:
    - Diffusion and application of IMETAL environmental policy

    - Attention to external interested parties

  • Our aim is to reduce resource consumption through a continuous improvement of production efficiency and waste production through an optimization of management of produced waste.

Anti-Corruption

  • A commitment with the anti-corruption principle is reflected in our own operations and policies, and is continuously disseminated to both customers and suppliers, and any interested party.

  • The company has issued strict guidelines and public notices on our vigilant stance towards scrap ownership and vendor identification.
