  • To our stakeholders,

    I am pleased to confirm that Eijgenhuijsen Precisievervoer B.V. keep supporting the ten principles of the Global Compact with respect to human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

    With this communication, we express our intent to advance those principles within our sphere of influence. We are committed to making the Global Compact and its principles part of the strategy, culture and day-to-day operations of our company, and to engaging in collaborative projects which advance the broader development goals of the United
    Nations.

    We will make a clear statement of this commitment to our stakeholders and the general public. We recognize that a key requirement for participation in the Global Compact is the annual submission of a Communication on Progress (COP) that describes our company’s efforts to implement the ten principles. We support public accountability and transparency, and therefore commit to report on progress within one year of joining the Global Compact, and annually thereafter according to the Global Compact COP policy.

Human Rights
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of human rights for the company (i.e. human rights risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on Human Rights.

  • Eijgenhuijsen’s goal is that our employees and business partners respect and act to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement Human Rights policies, address Human Rights risks and respond to Human Rights violations.

  • Though Eijgenhuijsen act to a Collective Labour Agreement a lot of rights are already covered by this Agreement. Furthermore Eijgenhuijsen pays attention to issues related to Human Rights in the interviews with their employees. While Eijgenhuijsen has a relative small company structure employees also have the opportunity to meet and report to management directly.
    In the coming months Eijgenhuijsen will implement questions concerning Human Rights in their supplier audit form.

  • Measurement of outcomes

  • In case there are Human Rights violations the Eijgenhuijsen HR-employees reporting these issues to the Board of Directors. In the period 2011 until this COP no Human Right violations were reported.

Labour
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of labour rights for the company (i.e. labour rights-related risks and opportunities). Description of written policies, public commitments and company goals on labour rights.

  • Eijgenhuijsen manages a Risk Assessment which will be updated yearly. The Risk Assessment covers issues as working environment and health. The main goal is elimination of dangerous situations and providing employees a safe work environment.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions taken by the company to implement labour policies, address labour risks and respond to labour violations.

  • Eijgenhuijsen has implemented a reporting method for issues concerning labour risks and incidents. Eijgenhuijsen is working according the Dutch law and thereby the Collective Labour Agreement. This ensures among others comparable pay for comparable work. Through the year Eijgenhuijsen management has periodically meetings with their departments and employees to discuss also about the Labour principles. Eijgenhuijsen has a (Labour) safety employee.

  • Measurement of outcomes
  • Description of how the company monitors and evaluates performance.

  • The Risk Assessment is an important method whereby Eijgenhuijsen monitors and evaluates performance. If there are any incidents of violations of Labour principles the HR department will record this and will report this to their management.
    In 2011 we had 1 incident with light injury related to Labour. In 2012 till this COP we had no incidents.

Environment

  • Description of the relevance of environmental protection for the company (i.e. environmental risks and opportunities). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on environmental protection.

  • Eijgenhuijsen is aware that their operations have an impact on the environment. Most of the impact comes form our trucks and that is the reason why we focus on this part of our business in case of environmental awareness.
    Eijgenhuijsen is involving its employees as much as possible in environmental issues and make them aware of the impact of our operation.

    Eijgenhuijsen will implement ISO-14001 in 2013.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement environmental policies, address environmental risks and respond to environmental incidents.

  • We are leasing our fleet for a maximum of five years, so the engines are from the latest generation (Euro5 and higher) and the emissions thereby secured. On al large part of our fleet we installed an eco software modification which results in a further reduction of emissions.

    Our planning uses transport management software to plan the routes as efficient as possible. Of course the software is regularly improved to make optimal routes and reducing the impact on the environment.
    In Nov 2011 we had a truck drivers safety training with the goal to give the driver a better situational awareness in their environment.

  • In 2011 and 2012 till this COP we had no environmental incidents.
    With the coming implementation of ISO-14001 we will also set up a periodically CO2 report.

Anti-Corruption

  • Eijgenhuijsen stands for fair business and for this reason we avoid any form of corruption.
    We are committed to be in compliance with all relevant (anti-corruption) laws.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement anti-corruption policies, address anti-corruption risks and respond to incidents.

  • Our employees are instructed to handle according anti-corruption laws.
    Due to cross linkages in our financial system we can easily identify financial corruption. Twice a year we are also subjected to statutory external audits. These both methods are used to identify suspicious corrupt behaviour.

  • Eijgenhuijsen has never been involved in any legal cases related to corruption and bribery.
