Human Rights

  • Civil Works, Inc. maintains a non-discriminatory policy with respect to conditions of employment - including hiring, promotions, termination and compensation -- that includes age, race, sex, sexual orientation, religion, and disability. We are committed to respecting human rights everywhere we operate, because it continues to strengthen our business Environment.
    Our company goal for the upcoming year is to continue to ensure a healthy and inclusive environment, in which all employees of Civil Works are treated with respect. This promotes increased quality, productivity, employee retention and morale. We believe that a company's efforts to address working conditions, environmental challenges and other sustainability issues are good indicators of its management's leadership capabilities and we have watched our staff excel because of our aim for excellence.

  • In the eleven years of our existence, we are proud to announce that, Civil Works, Inc. has never faced any accusation of violating an individual’s Human rights. We believe this reflects our increasingly integrated approach to managing human rights and community issues by articulating our commitments to both our staff and our industry partners.
    Respect for human rights, human dignity, and equality, are all core values at Civil Works and are cornerstones of our company policy. Upper management is required to ensure that a diverse and non-discriminatory environment is provided. Harassment and discrimination are a violation of the law, and to prevent and address harassment and discrimination, there is a suggestion box where employees can anonymously report concerns to management.

  • We encourage employees who have a good-faith belief that there may have been a violation of the company’s Code of Ethics to report it through established channels. These reports are then clarified, validated and the situation is corrected, if necessary. No retaliatory actions will be taken against employees who report concerns about violations of company policy.

Labour

  • Through workers' compensation, injured employees are entitled to necessary medical care, treatment, and prescriptions related to the injury obtained at work at an authorized provider free of charge.
    It is the responsibility of the injured employee to promptly report to their supervisor the details of any accident, injury or disease which may be work-related. The injured employee is also responsible for cooperating with upper management to achieve a full return to work where this is possible.

  • Civil Works, Inc. supports the use of legitimate workplace apprenticeship, internships and other similar programs that comply with all laws and regulations applicable to such programs. We continue to comply with all applicable wage and hour laws and regulations, including those relating to minimum wages, overtime hours, nonexempt or exemption classification and other elements of compensation, and provide legally mandated benefits.

    We continue to implement, measure, and continually strive to improve processes for preventing work-related accidents, injuries and illnesses by fostering employee involvement and providing appropriate education to employees to enhance their ability to work safely and productively.

  • There are periodic audits and self-assessments of our conformance with regard to employee well-being, product safety requirements, work place diversity, violations, etc.

    Incidents of violations are handled by meetings with Management and Legal, if necessary. Senior Management is notified of all such violations and will be responsible for approving or denying any recommended actions.

Environment

  • Civil Works, Inc. is an environmentally responsible neighbor in the communities where we operate. We are committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace and will ensure that all personnel are properly trained and have appropriate safety and emergency equipment.
    Looking ahead, we will continue to pursue progressive approaches to problem solving in the area of environmental protection, and will continue to strive to make a positive contribution to improve energy efficiency, water conservation and pollution prevention.

  • We conserve natural resources by reusing and recycling materials, purchasing recycled materials, and using recyclable packaging and other materials. We ensure the responsible use of energy throughout our business, including conserving energy, improving energy efficiency, and giving preference to renewable energy sources when feasible.

  • Civil Works, Inc. is prepared to act promptly and responsibly to correct incidents or conditions that endanger health, safety or the environment. All incidents will be reported to authorities promptly and affected parties will be informed.

Anti-Corruption

  • We believe in maintaining a strong company culture, one that does not tolerate corruption on any level. Our Anti-Corruption Policy emphasizes integrity and zero-tolerance to corruption. All Civil Works employees are educated on the Codes of Conduct, which include policies regarding ethical breaches. There is consistent communication from top management, which emphasizes a zero tolerance approach concerning ethical violations within the work place.

    Civil Works is committed to creating a work environment where everyone's voice is heard, where issues are promptly raised and resolved, and where communication flows across all levels of the company. As per policy, Civil Works will take disciplinary and terminal action against any employee who has violated the law, Civil Works’ Code of Conduct, or company policies.

    For the upcoming year, we will continue to educate our employees on the proper protocol to take if they are confronted with extortion or bribery, Reinforce the company’s zero tolerance policies and maintain a high level of transparency.

  • Openness is essential in quickly recognizing business issues as they arise and addressing the changing needs of our diverse workforce. We have implemented an open-door policy which has been meaningful in affecting employees and organizational operations.

    Managers hold the responsibility for creating a work environment where an employees’ input is welcome, advice is freely given, and issues are surfaced early and are candidly shared. There is also a suggestion box which allows employees to anonymously report concerns to management.

  • There are periodic internal audits where company financials are meticulously reviewed. These audits serves as a critical defense against the threat of fraud, with a focus on assessing and monitoring controls designed to prevent and detect fraud. There is also an internal checks and balance system in place to ensure consistency.
