    IMETAL General Manager Statement

    I am pleased to confirm that Industrias Metalicas IMETAL SA (IMETAL) reaffirms its support of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption.

    In this second annual Communication on Progress, we seek to describe the actions taken to improve the integration of the Global Compact and its principles into our business strategy, culture and daily operations.

    For the next years, IMETAL will do its best to carry out its commitments with the UN Global Compact Initiative with the necessary dedication and responsibility. We also commit to share this information with our stakeholders using our primary channels of communication.

Human Rights
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of human rights for the company (i.e. human rights risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on Human Rights.

  • Human Rights Protection is essential for the company. Industrias Metalicas IMETAL SA is committed to support and respect the protection of human rights and is not complicit in any human rights abuses.

    This commitment continues to be realised within all our projects and within our written policies disseminated both to customers and suppliers.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement Human Rights policies, address Human Rights risks and respond to Human Rights violations.

  • IMETAL is familiarised with International Human Rights Legislation and reaffirms its commitment to ensure that all contracts signed in the company are in compliance with such legislation. In addition, no Human Rights violations have occurred within the company or in projects.

  • Measurement of outcomes
  • Description of how the company monitors and evaluates performance.

  • The company evaluates performance on analysis of reports, and no reports of breach of human rights in this period.

    No Human Rights violations have occurred within the company and no human rights risks have been detected in the past. In addition, no Human Rights violations have been detected in projects related to the company’s professional activity.

Labour

  • IMETAL is committed to support the development of a working environment which encourages the professional and personal development of its workers.

    IMETAL continues to endorse the four principles of the United Global Compact in relation to labour rights, upholding freedom of association, committing with the elimination of all forms of compulsory labour and child labour and discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

  • The company is committed to ISO9001, the international management standard.

    IMETAL continues the operation of its policy of training and development of workers, developed in consultation with the companies’ workers representatives.

Environment

  • IMETAL, within is sector of activity, supports the minimisation of the interaction of its daily activity with the environment.

    This compromise is shown with the adoption of an environmental policy in agreement to the respect of the environment which takes to implantation of acting guidelines in accordance with the requirements of the Management Community System and Environmental Audits (EMAS).

  • In relation to environmental issues, IMETAL strives to commit to the:

  • The company evaluates its performance in relation to the goals the company has set in terms of environmental operation:

    • Minimisation in resources consumption through the improvement of production efficiency
    • Minimisation in waste production, discharge and emissions control
    • Optimisation of management of produced waste

    The evaluation of IMETAL’s performance against those goals is satisfactory within the reported time period.

Anti-Corruption

  • IMETAL fully endorses the commitment to the Anti-Corruption Principle, working against all forms of corruption, extortion and bribery.

    This commitment which IMETAL has always had continues to be addressed within our own operations and our policies, disseminated to customers and suppliers.
