    To our stakeholders,

I am pleased to confirm that Rotra reaffirms its support of the 10 Principles of the UN Global Compact in the areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-corruption. Therefore we are pleased that we can share the progress we made in implementing the ten Global Compact principles with our stakeholders.
We recognize that a key requirement for participation in the Global Compact is the annual submission of our COP and helps us periodically to assess the implementation of the implementation.

    Sincerely yours,

    Machiel Roelofsen
    Vice President

  • Description of the relevance of human rights for the company (i.e. human rights risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on Human Rights.

  • Rotra believes its most significant opportunities to impact human rights are in the areas of human rights in the workplace. We respect the human rights of our employees in the Netherlands and Belgium and work according to law. Our workplace provides equal opportunity and are safe and healthy. Further more our drivers are trained in order to ensure safety.

Besides that we, as a socially committed organization, support various projects and charities such as Simavi and the Alpe d'HuZes (Cancer Foundation). Thus Rotra accepts its responsibility and hopes to contribute toward improving the lives of people who desperately need it.

Our drivers drive new trucks which are maintained according to a strict maintenance program. Our trucks are renewed constantly (we drive with Euro4/Euro5 trucks)

Environment
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of environmental protection for the company (i.e. environmental risks and opportunities). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on environmental protection.

  • A policy vision of social responsibility and sustainability links long-term operating profit to attention for the environment and internal and external social aspects. Recent reports demonstrate the need for a global environmentally sound government and corporate policy. Rotra uses its key position by converting its policy into concrete actions and results and in doing so actively contributes to a sustainable society in which People, Planet and Profit go together. Rotra is strongly committed to providing sustainable service, and by means of its Rotra-Academy, communicates this awareness to all its employees.

In 2011 Rotra has been awarded with the Lean & Green Award for its sustainable strategy.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement environmental policies, address environmental risks and respond to environmental incidents.

  • Rotra's green policy dates right back to the 70s of the past century. Rotra developed its first trailers for train transport (Hupac Transport) to Southern Europe; currently still hundreds of trailers are leaving by train on a monthly basis. In the early 80s Rotra developed the first volume combinations; the first vehicle to pass the LZV (Long Heavy Vehicle)-test in the Netherlands in 2004 was a Rotra-roadtrain!
In recent years Rotra has fulfilled its pioneering role in sustainable logistics by introducing trucks running on alternative fuels. After taking into use Europe's first truck on ethanol in 2007, the first clean Econic natural gas truck was introduced in the Benelux in the summer of 2009. In addition, the establishment of our own quay on the IJssel River at the Rotra premises in Doesburg is an environmentally friendly alternative for containertransport by road, which is continually experiencing more congestion.
In the summer of 2010 Rotra provides its 5000m2 large Automatic Bicycle Warehouse (ABW) in Doesburg with solar cells.

  • Measurement of outcomes
  • Description of how the company monitors and evaluates environmental performance.

  • By using this renewable, environmental friendly, energy onm its Warehouse Rotra establishes an annual emission-reduction of over 48.000 kgs CO2! Click here for Rotra's emission-reduction (live!) > see our website: www.rotra.eu

In the plan which has been awarded with the Lean&Green Award we prove that we reduce CO2 emission by 1.243.000 kg CO² /year

Anti-Corruption
  • Assessment, policy and goals
  • Description of the relevance of anti-corruption for the company (i.e. anti-corruption risk-assessment). Description of policies, public commitments and company goals on anti-corruption.

  • Rotra's commitment to doing business with integrity means avoiding corruption in any form. Neither by our employees nor by our partners (worldwide). We select our partners according to the strictest conditions.

  • Implementation
  • Description of concrete actions to implement anti-corruption policies, address anti-corruption risks and respond to incidents.

  • Rotra uses numerous reports and strives to do business in an ethical and legal manner. We do have our own safety measurements at our premises (and a safety manager).
