Ocean Investment Protocol - 2026 Revised Draft for Consultation
The Ocean Investment Protocol (or Protocol) is a framework for financial institutions, (re)insurers, ocean industries, governments and development finance institutions (DFIs) to lead the growth of the Sustainable Ocean Economy (or SOE) to achieve SDG14 and other related SDGs. By managing risks and capturing opportunities, these stakeholders have a central role to play — individually and collectively — to make the transition to a strong and innovative sustainable ocean economy that ensures the health of our oceans.
The 2026 revised draft expands the framework to include recommendations for central banks, financial regulators and supervisors as critical actors in advancing a sustainable ocean economy. The final version will be published in Fall 2026.
