CHALLENGES
🔹Informal Workforce – Base recyclers, often informal workers, faced financial instability and lacked access to secure markets.
🔹Unstable Supply Chain – Maintaining consistent raw material supply from informal recyclers posed operational risks.
🔹Resistance to Formalization – Recyclers were hesitant to legalize their operations due to perceived costs and complexity.

KEY RESULTS
✅ 17,109 recyclers empowered through economic inclusion and training by 2024 (up from 5,556 in 2021).
✅ 188,887 tons of scrap collected by base recyclers in 2024—21% of AZA’s total input.
✅ CO₂ emissions of 0.18 tons per ton of steel—significantly below the global industry average (1.91 tons).
