Global Compact & Danish Institute for Human Rights Announce Cooperation

2003-05-17

The Global Compact Office announced on 16 May that it has entered into a cooperative arrangement with the Danish Institute for Human Rights. The Danish Institute, based in Copenhagen, is an independent human rights institute, accredited under the UN Paris Principles of 1993 to assist in the advancement of UN standards and principles relating to human rights.

Under the cooperative framework, the Global Compact and the Danish Institute will work together to assist companies participating in the Compact in the understanding and implementation of the Global Compact’s human rights principles.

Among a number of joint activities to be pursued, the Global Compact will promote the use of tools developed by the Danish Institute, while the Danish Institute will evaluate how it can contribute, in cooperation with the OHCHR, in the development of a human rights training package for the Global Compact.
