Leading companies in North America met on 29 April in Palo Alto, California, at Hewlett-Packard Headquarters to establish a North America Global Compact Learning Forum. Convened by Hewlett-Packard and Pfizer, the meeting brought together 50 participants representing a broad spectrum of industries as well as academia.
Global Compact participants informed interested companies of the opportunities and challenges of engagement. It was recognized that more active participation from North American companies was essential to the success of the initiative. It was also acknowledged that the Global Compact offers opportunities to address priority issues such as building trust between business and society, and supply chain management.
Participants agreed to make a concerted effort to contribute to the third annual International Learning Forum meeting in December 2003.
