The CEO Water Mandate will hold a two day multi-stakeholder session focusing on corporate water disclosure. Sessions will center on a range of emerging and salient water disclosure issues, including how companies can measure and effectively/consistently communicate water-related risk, whether there is a general approach for understanding water-related materiality, as well as how the issue of "sustainability context" relates to both of the aforementioned.

This breakfast meeting will bring together local network representatives and other interested persons to discuss the Women's Empowerment Principles – Equality Means Business. The meeting will focus on how the WEPs can serve as a useful tool for Global Compact Local Networks and other stakeholders in their engagement with companies. Local Network representatives that have been involved in the Women's Empowerment Principles initiative will share their experiences with the Principles.

Caring for Climate Third Meeting of Signatories

The third annual meeting of Caring for Climate signatories, entitled Business Contribution to Global Sustainability ahead of Rio+20, is designed to shape and help advance the initiative's current workstreams and to discuss the roadmap to the UN Conference of Sustainable Development in June 2012. The event will feature a joint session between Caring for Climate and CEO Water Mandate signatories as well as a session focused on access to energy ahead of the International Year of Sustainable Energy for All in 2012. A number of deliverables including the report on climate change and development and Low-Carbon Leaders – Beyond Carbon project will be issued for discussion at the occasion of this event.

Labour Principles Session

The session is a unique opportunity to exchange ideas on how to implement the labour principles, to share lessons learned and to identify common challenges. Local Network representatives are encouraged to attend this meeting to learn more about the four labour principles and tools available to assist business in respecting and implementing the labour principles. The Labour Working Group (LWG) is particularly interested in receiving direct input from Local Networks on identifying opportunities for further collaboration and discussing needs for further assistance in promoting the labour principles. The meeting is open to all participants.

This lunch meeting will bring together businesses and other stakeholders across the UN Global Compact Working Groups and Networks to learn more about the Global Compact Supply Chain Sustainability workstream. An interactive session will explore the Practical Guide for Continuous Improvement, developed by BSR in collaboration with the Global Compact and the Advisory Group, and its value to companies.

The Principles for Responsible Investment Initiative: How to Enhance Dialogue between Investors and Companies on Sustainability Issues

Human Rights Working Group Meeting

Local Network representatives are encouraged to attend this meeting to provide input on advancing the Human Rights Working Group initiatives and to share related human rights activities that they are undertaking. The HRWG is especially interested in what support it could provide to Local Networks on business and human rights and how it can most effectively engage with Local Networks.

Meeting of the Expert Group on Responsible Business and Investment in Conflict-Affected Areas

Companies, investors, civil society and others will dialogue, share experiences and engage on issues of business and peace and will review steps to advance the Guidance on Responsible Business in Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas. Topics of discussion include among others: engaging GC Local Networks, translating the Guidance into operational reality, a presentation of recently developed tools and initiatives. This meeting will be an opportunity for Expert Group Members to explore how can companies demonstrate they are “responsible” when operating in unstable environments (such as regions that are experiencing citizen protests) as well as explore ideas for what the Expert Group could do collectively.

Workshop: Communication for Local Networks

This 3-hour workshop is intended to familiarize local network representatives with the basics of effective communications. Using a variety of practice examples and interactive exercises, participants will be introduced to basic communications strategies and tactics, covering media outreach, social media, narrative development, etc. This workshop is open to all network representatives interested in enhancing their network's communications.

Official Welcome Event at the Copenhagen City Hall

The official welcome for Global Compact Week in Copenhagen will take place at the Copenhagen City Hall. The  meeting point is at the main entrance of the City Hall were you will be accompanied to the reception where the famous City Hall pancakes and drinks will be served.

Children’s Rights and Business Principles Initiative Breakfast

This session will introduce the Children’s Rights and Business Principles Initiative to local networks. To be launched on 20 November 2011, this set of Principles will provide a coherent set of practical considerations that business can apply throughout their operations to enable them to maximize the positive impacts and minimize the negative ramifications that their activities may have on children. This session is open to all participants.

LEAD - Local Networks Meeting

This session will bring LEAD and Local Network representatives together to discuss and clarify the minimum requirement for LEAD companies to demonstrate leadership locally and define best practices for subsidiary engagement. The session also includes a matchmaking lunch which will allow for bilateral discussion between LEAD companies and Local Networks.
