Austria

In 2006 respACT – the Austrian platform for CSR and Sustainable Development became the official Focal Point of the Global Compact Network Austria. respACT as the Focal Point is the key driver and main contact point in all Global Compact issues. Recently, the Austrian Development Agency and ICEP joined and are now playing an active role in the development of the network. OMV as one of the first participants in Austria and is the most active company being involved in diverse Global Compact activities at global and national levels. A steering committee was established in February 2009. Its members are the following: respACT as the Focal Point, Austrian Development Agency, Oesterreichische Kontrollbank, Hauska & Partner, RCE (University of Graz) and Bawag P.S.K.

The objectives of the Austrian network are the enlargement of the network, awareness raising for the Global Compact and the 10 principles among companies and the public and creating engagement opportunities for participants. Key activities are: General Meetings taking place twice a year, workshops under specific topics (2009: Human Rights), and exchange of best practice among the participants.

The main goals are to increase network participation by 50%, the development of the GCLN website and awareness rising around Human Rights among Austrian participants.
