Call for Expressions of Interest

A. Be a Global Compact case study author

The United Nations Global Compact Office has established a roster for graduate students from around the world interested in being an author of a Global Compact case study on the topic of a company’s efforts to respect and support human rights.  Further information about what is entailed in authoring a case study can be found in the Template for Global Compact Human Rights Case Studies.

Please note that case authors do not normally receive any remuneration for authoring a case study. In the past, some graduate students have been able to obtain academic credit within their own academic programmes for their work. Whether this is possible for any particular student is the student’s own responsibility.

Interested persons should send an email to humanrights@unglobalcompact.org attaching their resume and a writing sample and indicating:

  1. in one paragraph, their rationale for wanting to write a Global Compact case study;
  2. the period during which they would like to write such a case study;
  3. any proposal they have for which company’s practices they would like to write about;
  4. other relevant information such as their expertise in or knowledge of a particular industry sector or aspect of business and human rights.

B. Be the subject of a Global Compact case study

The United Nations Global Compact Office is calling for expressions of interest from companies participating in the Global Compact that would be interested in being the subject of a Global Compact case study about their efforts to respect and support human rights and the lessons learned from these efforts.  Further information about what is entailed in being the subject of a case study is contained in the Template for UNGC Human Rights Case Studies.

Please note that the best case studies are generally ones that speak about what did not work and what the company might have done differently as well as what worked well in tackling the human rights challenge described in the case study.

Interested companies should send a short description of the innovative practice that is proposed as the subject of the case study to humanrights@unglobalcompact.org.

C. Participate in peer review of case studies

The Global Compact Office has also established a roster for expressions of interest in participating in peer review of case studies.

Interested companies should send an email to humanrights@unglobalcompact.org indicating what kinds of case studies the person would be interested in peer reviewing (industry sector, type of human rights challenge etc).
