Call for Signatures: CEO Statement of Support for the Women’s Empowerment Principles
The Global Compact encourages top company executives to sign the CEO Statement of Support for the Women's Empowerment Principles. By signing the Statement, corporate CEOs commit to advance gender equality and agree to use the Principles as guidance for business actions that empower women in the workplace, marketplace and community.
While the CEO Statement of Support is intended only for signature by CEOs of corporate entities, the Women's Empowerment Principles are intended to be a practical tool for a wide range of stakeholders. Join the world’s largest global coalition on climate led by the UN Global Compact, UNEP and the UNFCCC. Caring for Climate is a unique initiative – a commitment to action by business and a call to governments, incorporating transparency. Endorsed by nearly 400 companies from over 65 countries, Caring for Climate assists companies in the development of effective climate change policies while also providing a channel for the business community to contribute inputs and perspectives to key governmental deliberations. The broad geographical spread of its supporters, involving both leading actors from developed and emerging economies, reinforces the novel nature of this engagement platform. Businesses are encouraged to join this initiative addressing the global water crisis. Launched by the UN Secretary-General in July 2007, the Global Compact’s CEO Water Mandate is focused on developing corporate strategies and solutions to contribute positively to global water issues. The Mandate is a call-to-action to business everywhere, and provides a strategic management framework covering six areas: direct operations, supply chain and watershed management, collective action, public policy, community engagement and transparency. The Mandate offers opportunities for multi-stakeholder collaboration and partnerships, including with relevant UN agencies.
The CEO Water Mandate has also launched a global Water Action Hub (www.wateractionhub.org), offering project-specific engagement opportunities for all companies at the regional and local level.

The ESG Investor Briefing is a joint project with the UN-backed Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) to improve company-investor communications on environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) information. Using the ESG Value Driver Framework companies have the opportunity to present what ESG value drivers are material for their business to an audience of diverse investors. Learn more.

The Child Labour Platform is a multi-sector, multi-stakeholder forum for sharing experiences and lessons learned in eliminating child labour. The Platform will deliver training and capacity support, link with global and local initiatives against child labour, and foster practical action that can make a difference in affected communities. Sign Open Letter: Call on Academic Institutions to Incorporate Human Rights in Management Education
The Global Compact and PRME have released an Open Letter calling on academic institutions to educate future managers and leaders on business and human rights. Endorsed by the Human Rights Working Group, the Open Letter intends to: 1) raise awareness of the need for business and human rights education; 2) prompt academic institutions worldwide to develop new courses and curricula; and 3) allow companies to declare the importance of business and human rights education within their own organizations.

Human Rights Dilemmas: Online Dilemmas Forum
As part of the “Human Rights Dilemmas for Multinational Corporations in Emerging Markets” project, this online Dilemmas Forum aims to enhance understanding of human rights themes and identify practical approaches for dilemmas facing businesses. The Dilemmas Forum is produced jointly by the Global Compact and Maplecroft.
Participate in an ongoing dialogue by commenting on themes, suggesting additional dilemmas and offering good practices. Existing dilemma workbooks are based on HIV/AIDS, Health, Privacy and Non-Discrimination, and Human Trafficking. Additional dilemma workbooks are being created on gender and non-discrimination, migrant workers, freedom of association, living wage and others.
Human Rights Working Group Seeks to Identify and Endorse Good Practices
The Global Compact Human Rights Working Group is seeking to identify and endorse good practices by companies and stakeholders in the implementation of the human rights principles. For the purposes of this submission process, good practices should draw on the experiences of many companies and should not be a case study on the experience of one particular company. All UN Global Compact participants and stakeholders are invited to submit proposals, which should include the following elements: (i) process for developing the proposal; (ii) demonstrate how the proposed good practice has been tested and is supported by key affected stakeholder groups (some stages may only involve one stakeholder group); (iii) clear linkages to human rights; (iv) expected outcome and impacts. Contribute to the Embedding Human Rights into Business Practice Series
The Global Compact Office is seeking expressions of interest from: 1) graduate students to author case studies; and 2) companies to be the subject of a case study and participate in a peer review of case studies. Case studies detail efforts by Global Compact participant companies to respect and support human rights, including lessons learned. Call for Nominations: WEPs Leadership Award
The Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs), a joint initiative of UN Women and the Global Compact, is accepting nominations for the 2014 Leadership Awards that highlight concrete actions taken to implement the WEPs and advance and empower women.
Deadline for submission is 1 November 2013. The Awards will be presented at the 6th Annual WEPs Event (5-6 Mar, New York). For more information on the Awards, eligibility and how to apply, please visit the WEPs website.
Corporate Efforts to Respect and Support Children’s Rights
Global Compact participants are invited to submit examples of their efforts to respect and support children's rights – to be included in a compilation of good practices. Examples can include company efforts to: combat child labour, promote child protection, ensure child safety, respect children's rights in advertising and marketing, and support the child-related Millennium Development Goals.

Call to Action: Anti-Corruption and the Post-2015 Development Agenda
The Global Compact has collected business perspectives on the need to integrate anti-corruption into the Post-2015 Development Agenda. The Call to Action statement urges Governments to promote anti-corruption measures and implement related policies to establish systems of good governance. Companies are encouraged to join this critical effort to help bring corporate sustainability to the next level by addressing corruption in all its forms.
Provide Input: Sustainable Agriculture Business Principles Consultation
All are invited to participate in the development of the Sustainable Agriculture Business Principles by providing feedback on the White Paper. We are interested in receiving input specifically on the outcomes that sustainable agriculture business principles should aim to achieve; the factors key to achieving these goals and the actions that are needed.
Support Sustainable Development: Partnership Opportunities for Business
While it has been over a decade since world leaders committed to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), much remains to be done to reach these critical milestones. Business leaders must intensify their efforts to help combat global poverty, hunger and disease and are encouraged to make a new commitment in support of the MDGs. You may wish to consider engaging in existing partnership opportunities across the UN System – which both contribute to the MDGs and could benefit from additional corporate participation.

Call for Examples: Sustainable Supply Chain Management
Global Compact participants are invited to submit brief examples describing how they are incorporating and promoting sustainability issues and the ten principles in their supply chains. Examples will be featured on the website Sustainable Supply Chains: Resources and Practices. Examples can include how the company is managing supply chain sustainability internally, how the company is engaging with suppliers or engaging in partnerships and collective action initiatives to promote supply chain sustainability. The Global Compact is also seeking examples of Initiatives (programmes, codes, standards, networks) that companies can engage in to improve their supply chain sustainability, and Resources and tools to assist in the implementation of sustainable supply chain programmes.

Join Private Sector Network to Support Disaster Resilience
The UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction invites companies to join the Disaster Risk Reduction Private Sector Partnership. This group will contribute to the reduction of disaster risks globally. The partnership will provide a platform for companies to share experiences and challenges, and explore innovative ways to strengthen collaboration and nurture ongoing partnership efforts on disaster risk reduction.
